Vladimir is a great town,

Green forest grows around.

There are many perfect sights,

They’re shone during nights.

My city is a Russian pearl,

Vladimir is the best of all!

     Vladimir… There is the city of great history, beautiful cathedrals and mix of antiquity and modernity. I love Vladimir and I think it’s a fortune to born here.

     Vladimir was founded on river Klyazma in 1108 by Vladimir Monomakh. In 1157 Vladimir was being a capital of Rus. The Assumption Cathedral, the Dmitrievsky Cathedral, the Church of the Intercession on the Nerl and Golden Gates (symbol of my town) were built in Vladimir in that time. These buildings are wonderful because Russian people’s heart was put in them. I feel the incredible pride when I’m near these majestic sights.

      By the way, the Church of the Intercession on the Nerl is my favourite place in Vladimir. I like to walk there with my friends or alone, especially in spring. Sun, young grass, flood and "the pearl of Vladimir region”, all of this give me positive emotions. I take pictures of this beautiful place.

    People of Vladimir took part in many wars. They fought bravely and worked in the rear hardly. Maybe, a lot of victories wouldn’t be without my fellow-townsmen.

     I know about feat of my fellow-townsman – Nikolai Gastello. He rammed a hostile military artillery. He perished but Russians remember him as brave pilot, real patriot and his feat. Now one street in Vladimir is named by his name (St. by Nikolai Gastello). Else, there are streets by name of Polina Osipenko, Yuri Gagarin, Mikhail Frunze, Dmitriy Pogodin and others Russian Heroes.

     Now Vladimir is a big centre of Russian culture. There are many museums, exhibitions in my town. I with my classmates went to Golden Gates, Patriarchal Gardens and Planetarium. It’s very interesting and cognitive for us.

     One part of Vladimir is its green parks. Many people walk there every day: to ski and skate in winter, to rest and walk in summer. Else, many festivals and holidays are celebrated there: New Year’s Day, Maslenitsa, Victory’s Day, Independent Day, Youth’s Day and, of course, Day of Vladimir.

     Day of Vladimir is celebrated in summer or early autumn. Usually in this day weather is warm and sunny. Many people from Vladimir and other towns go to Centre of Vladimir to Golden Gates and… entertaining program starts. Singers, dancers and actors make performance on the stage. Many merry-go-rounds ride children, different sweet things, souvenirs and bright balloons are sold in the street. Everybody can take part in funny competitions. This holiday is very bright, noisy and merry! Two years ago I made reporting about Day of Vladimir with my club of journalism. It was so interesting! When I watch it I feel light and exciting feelings are fulled me.

      Now Vladimir develops faster and faster. There are many computer centres, sport centres with new swimming pools, stadiums, art schools, theatres and bright yards with different tools for successful development of children and youth.

     People of Vladimir are talented, especially youth. We take part in different Russian sport and intellectual competitions and our results are rather good. It’s very important to support youth’s interests because youth is the future of my town and our country!

     I love my city and proud of its history!
