I love my birthplace.
We are sometimes asked what our birthplace is. But
what does the word "birthplace” mean? Is it only the place where we were born?
Or something more? I suppose it is an interesting question which should be
discussed. Before I try to answer the question I want to tell you about my
"birthplace”.
My birthplace is the village of Bolshie Vsegodichi.
Many years ago on this land my ancestors lived. They were called Ivan Burlakov
and Alexei Burlakov. The Burlakovs were famous enough in the place. Ivan was my
great-grandfather Alexei’s brother. Ivan was born in 1864. He was a deputy in the
State Duma. Alexei was an affluent peasant. He had his own pine forest, built a
dairy. My grandmother Alexandra Burlakova was born in 1907 in this village. She
was one of the first pioneers and was very proud of that. Bolshie Vsegodichi is
a calm, cozy village that’s why my ancestors didn’t move from place to place.
They enjoyed living there.
My birthplace is the place where my childhood has
flown. After all I have lots of the kindest and brightest memories connected
with my childhood. And I want to tell you about one of them. I remember, when I
was nine my friends and I decided to build a shelter of branches on a huge tree
which was in the remote area of the countryside. But we were too young to build
it ourselves. So we decided that to make a rope-ladder and put coverlets was
enough. We often used to play games, talk to one another and read adventure
stories together on the tree. What happy and fun time it was!
Bolshie Vsegodichi is the place where I spend my
summer holidays. I can relax there after my school year. The last rest in the
country was necessary for me because I was very tired after my exams, which I
passed excellently. The sun, open air, the forest, the river, fresh milk,
roosters’ songs in the mornings – that was enough for my happiness! In my
birthplace I have a good opportunity to improve my health. Manual labor in our
vegetable garden, running in the mornings, swimming, cycling, fresh air and
proper nutrition help me to keep feet. In the country I can do anything I want:
read books in silence, take colorful photos, walk somewhere. I don’t have to
worry about my homework and marks. All in all, my birthplace is the best place
where I can have a rest and gather strength for the next school year.
My birthplace is the place where I can forget about
everything and take pleasure of wonderful nature. There are some picturesque places
in Bolshie Vsegodichi. One of them is the river Uvod. The river isn’t far from
my house so I go to the river every day (if it doesn’t rain, of course). The
Uvod isn’t wide and deep, but it is so beautiful that I can’t go there without
camera. I’m fond not only of swimming. I like taking photos, for example, of
sunbeams sparkling and reflecting in the smooth water. I like taking photos of
wide fields, of bright flowers, of the church which I can see from the river.
Sometimes I manage to take photos of animals such as frogs, butterflies,
dragonflies or even ducks with some little ducklings. When I’m near the river I
feel relaxed and quiet.
Now, let’s turn to our question: "What does the word
"birthplace” mean?” I can’t say what it is: a big city or a small house on the
lakeside, because each person has his own birthplace. The birthplace is the
place which is dear for you. It is the place where you can forget about
everything and retrospect, where you feel happy and safe. The settlement
Bolshie Vsegodichi is my native place, my birthplace and it will always be the
best place for me all over the world. I love my birthplace!
